10 Activities for your Key West Bachelorette Party

If plans for your bachelorette party in Key West are in the works, good on you. The Conch Republic is a lively island that’s packed with variety, so you and your gal pals are destined to have a memorable trip. Trying to figure out fun activities while you're in Key West? Here are 10 ideas.

1. Mojito cocktail class

Drinking is an easy bonding experience, so up the ante and play bartender at the First Legal Rum Distillery near Mallory Square. The rum distillery offers mojito-making classes with recipes and techniques imported straight from Cuba. The lesson is free with supplies around $16, and it’s a skill you can all bring back home. Classes Monday through Saturday at 4:30pm. See details.

2. Beach day

No need to complicate things. Smathers Beach is a good option with a bit of everything, from jet ski rentals to plenty of sand to lay out in. An onsite food truck is a plus, but you’ll probably want to pack snacks and a cooler with drinks. Read up on the best beaches in Key West.

3. Rent a scooter or e-car

Key West is relatively small, but by foot it sure feels a lot bigger. Renting an electric car that everyone can fit in is always fun and makes the entire island accessible. Read more on scooter and golf cart rentals to find the best fit.

4. Kayak or SUP the mangroves

Stand up paddle board or kayak your way through the mangroves of Key West. You’ll spot beautiful birds, mangrove trees and marine life while taking in a peaceful side of the island.

5. Live it up at the sandbar

Snorkeling is fun, but visiting the sandbar is a Key West pastime. Book a boat charter that will bring you and the crew to the crystal clear waters of a sandbar. Swim, snorkel, eat and drink. This is easily and all-day affair.

6. Hang out with butterflies

The Key West Butterfly and Nature Conservatory has over 50 different species in this magical world off of Duval Street. Watch as monarch, swallowtail and the blue morpho butterflies flitter about you in this exotic experience that’s a memorable daytime activity.

7. Rent a floating tiki bar

Go big or go home! Rent a floating tiki bar that travels the waters of Key West with your friends. Cruisin’ Tikis offer a full, floating tiki bar complete with bar stools, a bartender, and speakers to enjoy whatever music you’d like. Tours run 90-150 minutes. Check out more info and book ahead on the Cruisin’ Tikis website.

8. Go on a haunted pub crawl

Remember telling scary stories at sleepovers when you were in grade school? This is like the adult version of that. Book a tour with Bone Island Ghost Tours to kick off the evening with a bit of morbid, local history and drinks. See more ghost tour options.

9. Enjoy a drag show

Key West was a gay mecca before gay travel was a thing, and with it comes an excellent selection of old-school gay bars and top-tier entertainment. Cabaret shows at Aqua, icon impersonations at LaTeDa, and drag bingo at 801 Bourbon is a tiny taste of what to expect. Read more.

10. Embrace the hangover

A night out on Duval Street is a given, so we didn’t think it was necessary to include. What you may overlook is planning for a hangover. Good news: Key West has great hangover breakfast platters, morning happy hours, mobile hangover hospitals, and a slew of other remedies for dealing the day after.
